Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is a prominent politician and economist. The Nigerian-born has served through many political, senatorial, and other capacities.
Datti founded the Abuja-based private institution Baze University and Baba-Ahmed University Kano.
Baze University Hospital is allegedly the largest hospital in Nigeria and Africa. It is in Baze University, where Baba Ahmed is the Pro-chancellor.
With the high level of corruption in the system, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed decided to do politics to play his quota to change the system. He served as the Representative for Zaria Federal Constituency from 2013 to 2017.
From 2011 to 2012, Baba-Ahmed was Senator for Kaduna North on the Congress for Progressive Change ticket. In 2018, the politician was a presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party.

Sen. Yusuf was the Officer II in a Lagos-based Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, Lagos. From 1997 to 1998, Yusuf was the Banking Officer of the First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
Baba-Ahmed returned to Baze Research and Data Services Ltd as the Managing Director and worked from July 1999 to January 2003.
After comparing the Nigerian university with those abroad, Sen. Ahmed noted that the educational system was appalling.
In 2011, the former senator established an independent University in Abuja, Baze University. He served in the two houses of the National Assembly.
In February 2022, Senator Yusuf declared his intention to contest the Kaduna State governorship. He has been a member of the leading opposition parties, including ANNP, CPC, and PDP.
Philanthropy
Senator Yusuf is also a prominent philanthropist. Apart from his political career, giving back to society is another thing he enjoys doing.
Baba Ahamed has done many corporate social responsibility projects. He donated to two junior secondary schools that accommodate four thousand students. The school has graduated over six thousand students.

Senator Ahmed became the Chairperson Board of Trustees of the NYSC Hope Alive Foundation in 2015.
Baba Ahmed founded and is Pro-Chancellor of the independent university in Abuja Baze University.
Activism
Through his political positions and capacities, Sen. Yusuf has participated in activism. During the tenure of President Olusegun Obasanjo, he and other lawmakers voiced against him running for the third time.
Voicing out against corruption is another thing he has been doing for a long time. In 2007, Sen. Ahmed Baba took INEC to court over the conduct of the past election.
