Sarah Omakwu (born July 31, 1962) is a Nigerian female pastor and visionary leader. She is the current senior pastor of Family Worship Centre, Abuja.

Her teachings on care, compassion, and gifts have touched many lives. She models and exhibits Agape love of God. Sarah believes that the gospel is good news for the weak.

The church she started with her husband with about forty-seven members has over eight thousand worshippers.

Early Life

Sarah Omakwu was born on July 31, 1962, in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Mr. and Mrs. Jagaba, her parents, raised her in a rural part of Nassarawa in Kaduna State in Northern Nigeria.

As a teenager, she was active in many church activities like evangelic outreach and singing. She took the things of God as a priority since her teenage days.

Education

After her primary and secondary school, she enrolled to study Sociology at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. 

In 1987, she took a course in Cosmetology in the United States. For her master’s degree, she did Counseling at Regent University. She completed the program in 1992.

Career

After returning from the United States, Pastor Sarah and her husband founded the Family Ministries International on April 11, 1993. FMI had The Family Worship Center, abbreviated as FWC, as its first subsidiary.

The church started with only forty-seven members that year. It has grown with over ten thousand regular members in Abuja.

Pastor Sarah teaches a life of godliness to her thirteen-thousand-member congregation. She advocates for a godly relationship, strong families, and a society where those in authority and those under do right.

Pastor Omakwu has spoken at many conferences within and outside Nigeria. 

Personal Life

Sarah Omakwu got married to Pastor Inalegwu Omakwu. They wedded while at Oral Roberts University (ORU).

Sadly, she lost her husband to cancer in February 2003. Like her, Pastor Ina touched many lives with his vision and compassion. She is a charismatic and visionary leader. She has supported many less privileged people like orphans, prisoners, widows, and more.

Pastor Sarah is a proud mother of three, two daughters, Blessing and Favour, and an adopted son, Worthy.
