Peter Igho (born March 28, 1948) is a multi-award-winning writer, broadcaster, and administrator. The 74-year-old is prominent for working with Nigeria Television Authority for thirty-three years.
His contribution to the NTA and the broadcast industry is immeasurable. He is one of the pioneers of the government-owned broadcaster.
After he retired from the NTA in 2008, Peter became the Director-General of the Lottery Regulating Commission.

Early Life
Peter Igho was born on March 28, 1948, in Jos, in the middle belt region of Nigeria, to an Urhobo family. His mother had five boys before him. Sadly, about three of the boys died.
His mother had always seen him as special and it was reflected in his name. After graduating from the university, his mother and brothers first did not want him to be a teacher. His father supported him and believed that teaching prepares people for everything.
Television has been something Peter has involved himself in since childhood. While he grew up in Jos, cinemas were less than six, between four and five.
Television was not common then, people used cinemas instead. Peter would visit the cinemas frequently. With time, he develops an interest in art. He went in the morning, afternoon, and even at night.
Education
Peter Igho studied at St. John’s College, Kaduna, from 1962 to 1968. After his WAEC examination, Peter enrolled for a degree at the University of Ibadan from 1969 to 1972. He received the honorary Doctor of Letters from Michael and Cecilia Ibru University, Agbara-Otor, Delta State.
Career
His first three years of teaching experience set the foundation for other professions. He became the new DG Lottery Commission in 2008. He showed competence and managerial abilities in his past work with the NTA.
At the Nigerian Television Authority, Peter handled the program content, management, and marketing. He was the head of the Dramatic Department, NTA, Sokoto, from 1975 to 1977.
As DG Lottery, Igho handled media, marketing, and administration. After retiring from the NTA, Peter thought it was time to start something for himself. He thought of doing production and consultancy.
Peter Igho directed the award-winning Moment of Truth. It emerged as one of the first national TV drama series in Nigeria. Olorogun Peter Igho received a Lifetime Achievement Award on October 7, 2020, during an Urhobo World Live interview.
Personal Life
Peter Igho is a father and husband. He met his wife in a supermarket managed by her uncle. His son, Tosin Igho, is one of the leading movie directors in Nollywood.
